Gina K April release inspiration blog hop: Day 2

Hi everyone!  Today the Design Team for Gina K. Designs welcomes you to another fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop were we hope to inspire you with many beautiful ideas! And as you hop through their blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each because we will choose a few random commenters and they will win a grab bag of deeply etched, pre-cut Gina K. Designs stamps! To see the full list of winners check the Big News forum at Stamp TV a couple of days after the hops!!

Today we are spotlighting the 2 sets, Vintage Notes:

My first card uses Vintage Notes designed by Tami Mayberry.  This set was designed to coordinate with Spellbinders, S4-359 Office Supplies die templates.  L.O.V.E.!!  I stamped the notebook paper and die cut it with a rectangle die and then the torn notebook edge die from Office Supplies.  I love all the stamp choices for the notebook paper, so many possibilities.
Next up is my card using Sweet Strawberries.  I just love these berries!  This set was illustrated by Theresa Momber and she did such wonderful job capturing the total yumminess of strawberries!  I colored them with my copics and using Scor-Tape and glitter outlined the square panel.
And here is the INSIDE (for those of you scrolling by fast - this is the inside, not a separate card -lol).
I don't always decorate the inside of my cards, but I couldn't fit the sentiment on the outside and I really wanted to use this one!
Check out all the amazing designs and inspiration:

A fun summer layout

Hi everyone!!   I have a quick post today sharing a scrapbook page layout I made for one of my Spellbinders projects.  I can share today because it now appears in the Spellbinders Idea Gallery.
Last summer we BARELY got hot weather (sniff sniff).  Meanwhile, the boys asked EVERY SINGLE day starting in May if they could bring out the Slip 'n Slide.  Well, it finally got hot enough around the middle of August to bust it out and I took some pictures!  I just love how it looks like Ryan is sliding into the "waves" I die cut!!  That piece is the left over piece from the border in the Nautical Frame and Accents set.

Here is a close up detail of the flower embellishments I made using the Splendid Circles dies topped with little flowers from the Home Sweet Home set.
Before I go, I had 2 blog candy winners who didn't contact me, so I have chosen 2 new winners!
They are:

Earth Day blog candy winners

Hi everyone!  First I would like to thank everyone for the fabulous comments on my Earth Day blog candy post.  WOW!  It really was so heartening to read how many people recycle AND about all the fabulous things everyone does for Earth Day.  There were lots of valuable tips too!

The first 2 winners are ladies who I thought posted really cool tips, and they were:

Save those TP & Paper Towel rolls when empty. Slice them down from top to bottom and use to keep wrapping paper and wall paper rolls from unraveling. Works great. Also, keep empty tissue boxes. If you pick nice designs they can be used for backgrounds on cards, scrapbooks, as tags, etc.
Thank for the blog Candy offer Michelle. So generous of you! Happy Earth day!

We have always been recyclers ! If i cannot repurpose something, it is recycled correctly. Clothes are donated to church, toys to the preschool, books to the library, small appliances are given to votech schools for them to practice and and repair! We grow veggies! We do not use paper products(plates, cups, napkins) or plastic! We use our own bags when going to the grocery store! I try to not use too many cleaning items, I use vinegar and baking soda as much as I can!
Whew...I think that's about all!
The last winner was chosen with the help of Random.org:

Easy Washi tape sunburst cards

Hi Everyone!  I was so inspired with our 2 (going on 3) days of sunshine we had, that I used my Washi tape to make sunbursts!  Happy happy happy!  Sunburst designs of all kinds are the rage right now, so I thought I would put a washi tape spin on it. Note: all tapes used on these cards are now retired. You can shop for similar washi tape on Scrapbook.com.
Here's one I did in teal and purple.
And here's one I did in Pinks.
Here is one in Yellows
The washi tapes I used come from a variety of places, but the majority came from Etsy stores. You can shop similar Washi Tape options on Scrapbook.com. Both of these cards use Spellbinders Circles, Scalloped Circles and a Bitty Blossom flower die templates and sentiments from Waltzingmouse Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Earth Day blog candy

Hi everyone!  Happy Earth Day!!  I am so thrilled this weekend we have SUN at my house and the timing of Earth Day couldn't be more perfect!  Now, I know for most of you around the country- you all have had plenty of sunshine (yes, I see the FaceBook pictures of you and your kids in shorts), but here in Portland Oregon, it's pretty much non stop rainy and cold.  All the time.  But today it is supposed to reach 77 degrees and we are getting out in the sun to plant our garden!!

In case any of you are wondering what Earth Day is all about it started back in 1970 by Senator Nelson of Wisconsin and lead to the Clean Air, Clean Water and the Endangered Species Act.  There are lots of little things anyone can do help out our environment (like recycling and buying local produce and goods).  The Earth Day website has lots of info, and just for fun, you can take the short Ecological Footprint quiz and see how your own lifestyle impacts the Earth.

In the spirit of Reuse, Recycle and Renew, I have some blog candy to give away!  I have been setting some stuff aside and I have enough for 3 packages to give away.  These are all brand new goodies!

Package 1:

CardMaker blog hop: Rock Stars

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the CardMaker blog hop!  Today's theme is Rock Stars.  The blog team was asked to make a card inspired by a SONG.  With Earth Day right around the corner (Sunday the 22nd), I chose the song Big Yellow Taxi (AKA Paved Paradise) originally released in 1970 by Joni Mitchell and remade by the Counting Crows in 2003.  Joni was inspired to write this when she visited Hawaii, drew back the curtains in her hotel room and saw beautiful green mountains in the distance. Then, looked down and saw a parking lot as far as the eye could see.

My card uses the stamp set, Eco Chic by Unity Stamp Co.  I stamped the tree, cut it out and colored it with Copic markers.  Now don't get all excited, I don't have the coloring skills of Colleen, but hey -not many do!  lol!  I used green and blues colors in keeping with the colors of the Earth, and of course there are lots of Spellbinder die templates.
I am the last stop on this hop!  So if you just joined with me, be sure to head over to the CardMaker blog and catch it from the beginning!  You will want to see how each of the girls was a Rock Star!

Michelle Woerner -you are here

Altered wooden picture frame

Hi Everyone!   I have a quick post today sharing a Mixed Media project I made for one of my Spellbinders projects.  I can share today because it now appears in the Spellbinders Idea Gallery.
I bought this circle wooden frame from Craft Warehouse on sale, it measures 6" across.  I started out by painting it cream, but it turns out I covered the entire frame with paper, so I really didn't need to do that.  This was pretty simple, I just covered the top portion with 1 pattern and the bottom with a coordinating one.  See how the the Want2Scrap circle Nestabling fits perfectly with the opening of the frame?  I LOVE it when that happens!!
I used the roses from the Bitty Blossoms set and the larger flower is the Spiral Blossom Three die template.  Happy sigh...  thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
I'll leave you with a close up picture.

A special sketch card

Hi everyone!  I played along with a very special SCS Sketch challenge today!  I say special because it is based off of THIS card from Sharon Johnson, which was inspired by MY cards on this post!  How cool is that!?!

Today's card uses some of the new MME 6x6 pad, Be Happy, of course lots of Spellbinder Circles die templates, some white wrinkled ribbon and a Prima Fairytale Rose.  The sentiment is from the set, Everyday Greetings.  I should mention that the quality of these Wordsworth clear sets is very high (like Verve and MFT), not the cheapo material used on the $1 clear sets.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.  Here is a close up picture.
Card Deets:
Stamps - Everyday Greetings
Paper - white and grey cardstock, Be Happy 6x6 pad (MME)
Accessories - Spellbinders Circles die templates, burlap string, wrinkled ribbon and prima fairytale rose

Yep, it's a scrap page

Hi everyone!  I have been busy behind the scenes preparing for the upcoming Gina K release, some CardMaker magazine blog posts and Spellbinders projects.  All of which I will have to wait to share with you.  Since I don't have anything new to post, I thought I would share one of my Spellbinders DT projects that are now in the Spellbinders Idea Gallery.

Today I will share a layout.  I may have mentioned before that part of my Spellbinders DT responsibilities is to make 1 scrapbook page each month.  Well, being a card maker, this part of my assignments makes seriously me break a sweat.  BUT, I have to say I am getting better.  What used to take me 3 days (yes that was 3 DAYS to you scrappers) to make a page, now is down to just over 1!  I'd say that's a huge improvement.  lol!  Here is my page.
I LOVE THIS PICTURE.  It's of my great grandmother, Emma.  My mom and I don't know exactly when it was taken.  I labeled that it was taken in 1918, but honestly, it could have been earlier.  As she and my grandmother have long passed, it will have to remain a mystery, but regardless the beauty of this picture will stay with me for life.
Here are a couple close up pictures
Thanks for stopping by!  Come back tomorrow and I will have a Mixed Media piece to share!
