Simple Snowflakes

Hi everyone!  I had a chance to play along with this week's Fall to Layout (FTL114) challenge.  Pretty cool layout and I thought Verve's snowflakes from Glad Tidings would work perfectly.  I also used some of my snowflake sequins
My plan was to do blue snowflakes on white cardstock and then the opposite of white snowflakes on blue cardstock.  But my blue card got all crooked, so I trimmed out the stamped part and mounted it to a white base.  Still turned out pretty cool!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Glad Tidings
Ink - Bashful blue and Night of Navy
Paper - white, bashful blue
Accessories - snowflake sequin (Cartwright Sequins), silver pearls (Recollections, score-pal

Verve Winter Spotlights - Day 4

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Day 4 of the Winter release spotlights!  Today we are spotlighting the fabulous set, Glad Tidings.  This set has 3 wonderful snowflakes, another cool tag image, a wreath and 14 sentiments!   Trust me, YOU WILL LOVE THIS SET!
My card is super quick and easy, and (bonus) this will mail easily.  I used the FTL113 sketch and I think it worked perfectly for the snowflakes.  I stamped them in black, colored them with a couple blue copic markers and punched them out.  They can easily be dressed up with stickles, rhinestones, etc, but I kept it really simple with a couple scored lines and 3 rhinestones by the sentiment.

It's hard to tell in the picture but that is NOT black cardstock, it is SHINY silver.  Which, by the way, is next to impossible to photograph.  Oh well...

Here is a list of the Divas who have Spotlight samples to share today.  As usual, one lucky random commenter will be winning all the stamps spotlighted today!

2. Jackie
3. Mercy
4. Michelle -this is me!

A Proper Gentleman to the rescue

Hi everyone!  I had a chance to play along with this week's SCS sketch challenge.  I really liked this one!  I had a birthday card to make for my dad, so I used this to get me motivated.  You see, I stress every year about making cards for my dad (here is the card I made in 2007, my post from 2008, and post from 2010).  SERIOUSLY I really struggle.  I searched my stamp sets for something to use that I haven't ALREADY used multiple times, when I got the idea to pull out my Graphic 45, A Proper Gentleman 8x8 pad!
My card has no stamping!   I only used pattern papers from Graphic 45.   I also used some of my much neglected 1.5" wide striped grosgrain which I found was a perfect match with the fine linen cardstock.  The sketch called for an oval, but I changed it to a rectangle to accommodate the trio of oldie cars.
I was really torn on adding the buttons, but I tried all kinds of different stuff for the "circle panel" of the sketch, but nothing worked.  In general, buttons are borderline girlie, but I thought by sticking to masculine colors and threaded them with black floss it would work.  And I am surprised, but I think it did!
So, this was mailed off and I really hope he likes it.  Thanks for stopping by, have a great Friday!!

Card Deets:
Paper - Black, Fine Linen (PTI)
Accessories - Striped grosgrain ribbon, buttons, black floss (DMC), swiss dots EF

Technique Tuesday October Guest Designer

Hi everyone!  I have some fun news- I am a Guest Designer for Technique Tuesday this month!  I am having so much fun playing around with their amazing stamps!!!

You may or may not know that I have been using their stamps for a LOOOOONG time.  Here is a link to a card I made in March 2007 and here is a link to another one I made shortly thereafter.  Yeesh, isn't it SCARY to see the cards we FIRST make?  These were made when I was brand new at stamping!

Anyway, I have a couple projects to share today.  First up is a set of CAS thank you cards made from the Thanks for Everything set which uses square note cards I bought on clearance at Craft Warehouse.  Set of 8 WITH envelopes for 50 cents -what a deal!!  Here is what they looked like before, what I love about these note cards is the various colored polka dots -lots options to dress them up!
Here is one that I dressed up with some 1.50" pink silk ribbon, a button and a strip of cardstock.  I colored in the sentiment with copic markers.
This one uses the solid image stamped in Soft Suede.  I colored the border with a green Copic marker and added some of the little punched flowers I am so fond of.
The last one uses some white wrinkled ribbon, another button, some cardstock and the large solid Thanks sentiment.  Aren't these fun?!?
Next up is a quick baby card using the set, Sweet Baby by Ali Edwards.  This card uses a sentiment and fun pattern papers from October Afternoon's Ducks in a Row.  The border was made from the punch, Garden Flower Chain.  Yep, I used those little flowers again.  What can I say?  THEY ARE CUTE!

Lastly, I have a Christmas card using the AMAZING Good Cheer set by Ali Edwards.  LOVE the sentiments in this set.  It looks good on a tag, don't cha think?!?  The pattern paper is MME, I Believe.
That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stay tuned next week for the TT DT challenge -I get to play along!  Have a great day.

I feel pretty, oh so pretty!

Hi everyone!  I finally have the SU Pretties Kit!  Yep, I have had my eye on this kit since it debuted a couple years ago, but it was just too expensive for me.  Well, no more -it's now on the SU Clearance rack for just $12!  I snagged this beauty for myself last week -and it IS so pretty!  I get my SU goodies from my demo friend, Kari Linder.

Here's my first card I made using the kit.  Ironically, I really struggled with this card!!  Like 4 hours struggle!  The large flower is bigger than I thought and for some reason I had trouble with a layout.  Anyway, here is my card.  I used a wedding sentiment from Verve's Love Story, and some pattern papers from Webster's Pages, Garden Gala.  The prima in the center is from the Athena flowers collection in Aurora Pink.
Next up I have a card using the adorable Harvest Birds Plain Jane set and sentiment from Autumn Splendor.  Aren't these little guys the cutest??  I added some bling to the tails and for the eyes.  My layout is from Julee's World Card Making Sketch #2.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Card Deets (wedding):
Stamps - Love Story
Ink - Chocolate Chip
Paper - White, blush blossom, Garden Gala PP
Accessories - Swiss dots EF, Kaiser pearls and Jute String (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store), scallop trim border punch (EK Success), SU pretties kit, Prima flower, large oval punch

Friends with Flair Friday

Hi everyone and welcome to Friends with Flair!  OK, so here is the deal.  I got totally confused with the days of the week when I signed up for FWF.  I thought Thursday was WEDNESDAY.  Sooooo, long story short, I realized -panic stricken- that I had to make a card, photograph and blog it LATE Thursday night.  Sigh... one day I will BE as organized and I think I am!!  LOL!

Angela has the master list of all the 50 designers participating in the FWF this week, so take a lookie at the Unity Blog for links to all the Unity goodness.

My card uses the September KOM, When I am With You.  I really tried to get those cutie leaves images to work on this card, but it was just NOT happenin', so I ended up only stamping a sentiment, but I like how this turned out.
The pattern paper is from Webster's Pages, Garden Gala and the ribbon is 1/4" sapphire silk.  That amazing rose looks like Prima, but at 1/2 the cost -it is by Reflections from Michael's!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Card Deets:
Stamps: September KOM, When I am With You (Unity Stamp Co.)
Paper: Kraft and Webster's Pages Garden Gala  PP
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: 1/4" sapphire silk ribbon (Stamp Simply Ribbon store), red rose by Reflections, scallop edge border punch by SU!

Stamp Simply October blog hop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store October blog hop!

This month's theme It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year -CHRISTMAS.  The new Christmas papers out this year are AMAZING!  I love them all -Cosmo Cricket, Webster's Pages, Imaginisce.  My card uses the papers from Kaiser Craft, Be Merry.  I love Kaiser paper pads because not only so some of the papers have glitter BUT there are die cuts in the back.  The striped scalloped piece is a border die cut.  The cutie Snowman is my favorite image from JustRite Stamper's set, Groovy Snowman.  You will notice the close up picture I took was NOT of my snowman -unfortunately, my coloring was not the best and I shuddered when I saw it up close -LOL!
Have you SEEN Sharon's new Stamp Simply kits??
They. Are. Fabulous.
She has made 2 new Christmas kits that will make your Christmas card making this year a snap!  The papers, ribbons and bling is all chosen and coordinated for you.
As with all of our monthly hops, there is hidden blog candy along the way!!  Be sure to check out my fellow DT's Christmas creations and leave a little love along the way.  One random commenter will win a fabulous prize -$50 of ribbon of your choosing!  THUD.

Hi everyone!  My crazy weekend got away from me and I forgot to post a winner from my impromptu blog candy post!  This cutie Ippity set, Books a Flutter!  ------------------------------->>>

The winner is:
Michelle Single said...
While I can't decide on just one set as a whole, my favorite stamp of all of the sets is that collection of lines on the father one. That has so many interesting possibilities.
Congrats Michelle (go Michelle's with 2 LLs!!)!  Please email me with your address and I will get this set out to you ASAP!

AND can you believe Verve is having TWO releases this month?  Oh yeah baby -double the stamps, double the fun!  This Friday is the first release, and my card uses the wonderful Plain Jane, Every Season, which will be available then.  I used the papers from Crate Paper 6x6 pad, Restoration.  The bigger paper flower is made from the Blossom nestability die and the small ones are from a little SU! punch.  I tried to be all fancy with the stitching, but I didn't turn out the way I envisioned it!

I used the VSWCMD1 sketch from Verve's World Card Making Day - Release Week Challenges for this one.  Head on over to the Verve Blog to check out all 5 sketches and read about how to win some prizes!  And be sure to check back to the blog tomorrow for the first of the official New Release Spotlights!

Bringing Back Beautiful -Beauty of gifts

Hi everyone!  Welcome to October's Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful challenge! A big shout out to everyone who played along in last month's challenge.  Check out the September True Beauties, they are featured on the Flourishes blog, each will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

Here is today's challenge: As we get closer to the season of giving, let’s take the wraps off your creativity to come up with beautiful ways to gift give. Do you have a fun template for a beautiful box? Or, do you have a beautiful presentation for gift cards? Show us what you’ve got! Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge card here (link to post) to enter. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB03. You have until October 30th to enter! As we unveil October's challenge for next month, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge!

OK, I'm not so sure my gift project is beautiful, uhhh maybe more like CUTE?  I made little Halloween "trick or treat" bags using the Flourishes set, Witching You a Happy Halloween.  You see, every year my neighbor makes a HUGE (too huge) Halloween bag for my boys, Ryan and Daniel.  It REALLY makes them feel special to "trick or treat" his house and have something special waiting just for them.  So, this year I made a special treat bags for a couple of Daniel and Ryan's friends.  They each picked 2 and when those friends "trick or treat" OUR door this year, they will have something special for them!

First I stamped an image in Stazon black ink on the bottom corner of the bag and set aside to dry.  You can see the cat image stamped here:
Next, I made the bag toppers by using the SU Top Note die scored in half longways.  I decorated each bag slightly different with colors, image, bling and sentiment combinations.  Here are close up shots of the toppers.
I bought a variety of creepy Halloween candy and toys (from the Dollar Tree) and filled the goodie bags.  I folded the black piece over the top and stapled it closed.  Then I decorated the white panel and glued it to the bag topper -this way the staples are hidden from the front.  Here is a close up of one bag.
So, are you ready to Bring Back Beautiful?  Check out my fellow Beauty Girls and see what Beautiful gifts they created!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
Deets:
Stamps - Witching You a Happy Halloween

Paper - Black, white, lovely lilac cardstock and misc Halloween paper from Doodlebug Designs

World Card Making Day

Hi everyone and HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!

How fun is this day?  My sister looked at me like I had 10 heads when I asked her to watch the boys so I could run to Craft Warehouse for WCMD!  Hahaha!  Believe me, nobody outside our crafty little world knows this day exists!  Oh and if you are new to my blog and taking the Paper Crafts Blog Tour -welcome, welcome, welcome!

I have a special collection of circle cards to share today.  I decided to make cards to honor 4 of my favorite stamping companies.  After all, I could NOT make cards and be the stamper I am today without these amazing stamps to work with.

First up, VERVE STAMPS.  Sigh, you all know my long standing love for Verve.  Julee has the most amazing designs and I plan to be on her design team until she pries her stamps from my cold dead hands -LOL!  My card uses the flower image from Dream Big and the sentiment is from Happy Hello.  Pattern is Cosmo Cricket, Pixie-Licious.

Next we have IPPITY STAMPS.  I love love love the fun whimsical feel to Ippity/Unity designs.  Soooo much fun to work with.  I am proud to be an Ippity Chick.  This card uses the set, Just Wanted to Say from their very first release.  To this day, it's one of my go-to Ippity sets!  The pattern paper is PTI's Dotty Biscotti.

Third, we have FLOURISHES.  Again, I have been a huge Flourishes fan dating back to my early SCS days.  LOVE their designs, always have!  This Halloween card uses the new, Witching you a Happy Halloween set.

Last, but not least TECHNIQUE TUESDAY.  Back in 2007, my mom bought me very first Tech Tuesday sets -Loves me Still and Master Pieces of Paisley, now retired, and I have been a fan ever since!  This card uses the cutie patootie set, Wise Guys.  The pattern paper is Basic Grey, Pyrus.

Thank you so much for stopping by and HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!!
