Kitchen remodel: Day 26

Hi everyone!  Well, the counter tops went in and they are beautiful!  I went with a quartz stone, it is handmade and not very porous so there is no need to seal it every year and it is much better with stains.  The color I chose is Serene and it's from Chroma Quartz.  I don't have my back splash installed yet (long, typical story) so I am hesitant on showing pictures, but here is one.

Notice the difference in green paint near the bottom?  Yep, after the counter tops came in, I discovered to my HORROR that the paint I JUST finished painting was the WRONG hue of green!  So I ran out to 3 paint stores and in 1 day found a new color and painted everything.  Whew.  But it was worth it.  Now my walls are a River Rock kind of green.  I love it!

I am leaving tomorrow for a long weekend getaway in Sunriver with some friends from SF!  I can't wait to see them -Bill and I met at their wedding!  Anyway, I will have a couple prescheduled blog posts coming up when I am gone.

P.S.  I just received the amazing NEW MAY ART RIBBONS from Sharon's Stamp Simply Ribbon store.  Check them out they are TOO DIE FOR!  Surprisingly, my favorite of the new ribbons is the striped twill.  SUPER big ole HAPPY SIGH....  I can't wait to return and get to stamping!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Kitchen remodel: day 23

Hi everyone!  Welllllll, while I am anxiously waiting for my counter top guy to come (yeah, he's just a little late), I made a couple of quick Thank You cards for the new Technique Tuesday challenge on SCS.

Yep, TT is now a Member Company!  How wonderful!!  AND, they are headquartered right HERE in Portland -I love to support local business!!

My cards are pretty easy and straight forward.  I am so nervous (I even had a nightmare he brought the WRONG counter top), that I wanted to use BRIGHT papers to cheer me up.  Bright fun colors just make me happy.  The challenge was to use any TT stamp.  Pretty easy.  I used the very versitile set, Thanks for Everything. I was totally enabled by my BFF, Charlene.  Thanks girl, I SO love this set!!

The bright paper is Delovely from Cosmo Cricket.

Here is card #2, feel like some BRIGHT PINK?!?  LOL!

My first card was inspired by Rachel's cupcake challenge, CIC69!

P.S.  OMGosh!  The installers are HERE!!!  Pictures tomorrow!!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Thanks for Everything
Ink - brown and black
Paper - white, kraft, delovely PP (Cosmo)
Accessories - prima flowers, burlap string, green button

Another Dare to get Dirty card

Hi everyone!  I'm back today with another card for a Dare to Get Dirty Challenge on SCS.  Like I mentioned yesterday, If you're a Fan Club Member this is your chance to play along with Dirty Girls, past and present, in a ton of fun challenges. If you're not a Fan Club Member, this is the perfect time to become one! You can get all the info on the SCS Fan Club page. We'd love to have you play with us this week! There are 33 challenges to choose from - play one or play them all!

My card is for Amber's challenge, I can't post the details here, but if you can check out her challenge thread .   My card uses one of the adorable Miss Anya Love images.  I colored her with Copic markers and used tiny yellow pearls for their centers.  The adorable pattern paper is Webster's Pages, the Lullaby Lane combo pack.  I FINALLY used one of the paper doilies I have from Little Yellow Bicycle.  Everyone uses these so beautifully and I have the HARDEST time making one work on a card.  This challenge was perfect for it!

Kitchen remodel Day 20:  Not much new to report.  Finished up all the ceiling painting and touch ups.  We are on a holding pattern for the counter tops next week.  But, I did take a picture of my ceiling light fixture to show my mom.  Here it is -I have 2 in my kitchen area.  (Please ignore the ceiling paint line -I can't reach back there until my countertops come in and I can STAND on them, LOL!)  This fixture really matches my semi-flush fixture in kitchen dining area.  It is from Hampton Bay and I really love it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Dare to Get Dirty, no NOT with my kitchen remodel...

Hi everyone!  Today I finally have a card to share!  Yippeee!!  Man, it felt really good to sit down and make a card.  I was a bit scared I had forgotten how since it's been so long -LOL!

It's Dare to Get Dirty Week at Splitcoaststampers! If you're a Fan Club Member this is your chance to play along with Dirty Girls, past and present, in a ton of fun challenges. If you're not a Fan Club Member, this is the perfect time to become one! You can get all the info on the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club Page.... We'd love to have you play with us this week! There are 33 challenges to choose from - play one or play them all!

My card is a sample card for the challenge hosted by current Dirty Girl extraordinaire, Edna and you can find the challenge details on this thread.  My card uses the new super fun striped ribbon from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  It's pretty wide (2"), but it's a light thin ribbon and that makes it easy to work with.  I tied the ribbon with some silver cord and added a Prima flower.  The sentiment is from Verve's Starstruck set.  I thought the sentiment was perfect for me right now.

Kitchen remodel Day 19:   Let's see... yesterday I primed and painted the ceiling, man that was hard on my neck, but otherwise it went pretty well.  Today I will do all the touch ups.
-I have my shoe and crown molding ordered and it was put on a RUSH basis.  We'll see when that comes in.  I won't show my "after" pictures until it does, so fingers crossed it won't be 5 weeks!!
-UGH, there is a huge delay on my countertops and looks like I won't get them installed (ALONG WITH THE  SINK) until next Wednesday.  Sigh... this is getting old!
-Bill installed my ceiling light fixtures and they look fabulous!  I bought them off of EBay, so I was a bit nervous how they would turn out, but I love them.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for another DTGD challenge card -yep, cards 2 days in a row!!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Starstruck
Ink - Chocolate Chip
Cardstock - kraft, chocolate chip and white
Accessories - 2" pink/white striped ribbon, silver cord, dotted scallop border punch, Prima flower, silver pearls, score-pal

Kitchen remodel: Day 15 -The good, bad and the ugly

Hi everyone!  Today is day 15 and I am doing some painting.  I thought I would do a quick post while waiting for my first coat to dry.  I want to share some of the good, the bad and the ugly of where I am at so far!  LOL!

The GOOD:
- the kitchen cabinets have been rehung and are perfectly centered where they should be!
- the floors are in beautifully and thus reduced the DUST ALLERGIES significantly!
- I went on a shopping spree at a super cool store, Storables.  Ever been there?  WOW!  Complete heaven for us organizers!  I spent wayyyyy more than I should have, but look at a couple of the coolio things I got:
These aren't from the store, I bought them with my cabinetry, but check out my garbage/recycle bins!  Front mount sliding bins:

Under cabinet slide n' stack tubs, I installed these in less than 10 minutes:

Over the cabinet door towel rack I really don't have any place to hang towels and I am OBSESSED with kitchen towels!  Oh and like my cardboard countertop? LOL!:

And my FAVORITE thing isn't mounted yet, as I have to wait for the sink/garbage disposal, etc, to be installed but here is the link to it:  2-tier Chrome slide out rack

The BAD:
- I found out the process to patch, prep and texture the ceiling is a TWO DAY process, which means I will be delayed even more before getting to stamp.  sigh...

And here is The UGLY:
This is a pic of the top of my cabinets.  I am waiting for crown molding.  Not so pretty, huh?  Fingers crossed it WON'T take 6 weeks to arrive.

Thanks for stopping by everyone.  I have several stamping blog hops and such that I have planned at the end of the month.  Fingers crossed for me to sneak some time away to create something for them!

Eclipse movie update - I still haven't seen Eclipse (I know!  I know!).  I am MAKING time to see it tomorrow at the matinee.  I have to be gone when the ceiling is being prepped anyway!

Kitchen remodel: Day 10

Hi everyone!  Well, it's day 10.

Major problem with the cabinet install.  See anything off??  The upper opening for the range hood doesn't match up with the lower opening for the stove.  I will have to have my upper cabinets removed and rehung to match up.

Seriously?  How does this happen?  I had to cancel the under cabinet lighting and range hood install that was scheduled for today.  Sigh... I need some Advil.

OK ladies, I need cheering up.  I really appreciate all you guys for your encouraging and wonderful comments!  Anyone have some good news that you want to share?  I sure need a smile today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

P.S.  I was asked what color my kitchen is.  It's a sage green color (close to Sage Shadow with a touch of Mellow Moss).  The exact color is Laurel Mist (430E-3) and it's from Behr from Home Depot.

Kitchen remodel: Day 9

Hi Everyone!  Kitchen remodel, Day 9!!

My cabinets are in!

Yeah baby and they look beautiful!  I won't take final pictures until the counter tops are in and a couple of mistakes are fixed (1 incorrect door, 1 incorrect size of a cabinet box, and some missing crown molding).  But here are some installation pics to give you an idea.  I purchased cabinets from Cardell Cabinetry.  They are made in the USA and have 2 lines of cabinets.  One is very affordable, so it was a win-win for me!  I got the Classic II, flat panel, full overlay door in a nutmeg finish.  So rich and beautiful!

AND today my floors are being installed! I am getting laminate flooring from Shaw Floors in Tropicana Brazilian Cherry.  They are coming along beautifully!!

I wanted to mention that I finally updated my Ippity stamps inventory!  I restocked my sold out sets and am now carrying the Delightful Little Things sets!!  I have had these lying around for weeks now without a minute to spare for updating!  All done now, so feel free to take a peek at my Ippity Sales blog.  Here is Delightful Little Things, isn't it CUTE?!?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Kitchen remodel Day: 6

Hi everyone!  Well, it's day 6.  I have 2 words for you:

DUST
ALLERGIES

It's 11:15pm and I am currently waiting for primer to dry, so I can paint my walls in preparation of the CABINET INSTALL tomorrow!  Yes, installation!!

Aside from painting literally at midnight (why my contractor showed up today at 2:30 to finish the sanding, mudding and texturing is anyone's guess) I am super excited to get SOMETHING new and pretty in my kitchen, I probably couldn't sleep anyway.  The install will take 2 days and I am beyond excited!

Tomorrow I have to steal away an hour or so and look for some under cabinet lighting.  I am stumped.  I know I want Xenon lights, but am unsure of the brand, or even how many to span my cabinets.  Anyone have some reviews/advise to share?  I am looking at some low profile Priori Xenon from American Lighting and at the thin line lights from American Florescent.

EDITED: I was contacted by Pegasus Lighting (thank you Chris!) and told that both of my choices are THE SAME light!  Hahaha!  I guess my decision is made!

No pics today.  Trust me, everything is so ugly I can't bear to show it.  OK, well no uglier than on Day 4 pics I guess -LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Kitchen remodel: Day 5

Day 5:  I scraped off the popcorn ceiling texture in the "kitchenette".  Now that we busted down the little wall to the kitchenette, the rooms became one and I wanted the ceiling texture to match.

I did this by myself.

Yep.  The things we do to save money, right?  There are no words.  And I have the blisters to prove it!  I am having my contractor draw a straight line, so I can make a clean end.  The popcorn ceilings continue throughout the formal living room and rest of the house.  I sooo wish I could remove them all, but had to stop somewhere.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Saturday!

Kitchen remodel: Day 4

The remodel is pluggin' along!  Making some real progress with only 2 problems so far.  Could be worse considering today is day 4.

Monday and Tuesday the cabinets will be installed.  I may not have the drywall textured and painted by then - trying not to panic.  LOL!

Wednesday the floors.  I. CAN'T. WAIT.

Here is my kitchen now.  This wall will have the sink and dishwasher.  All this plumbing will be moved to the left a couple feet (today?).
Needless to say, we had some wiring issues!  My stove is doubling as a workbench -heehee!
Here is where my fridge will be moved to.  To the right was the wall that was knocked down.

Here is an old piece of cabinet my contractor is using for a work bench.  See why the remodel?  These poor cabinets are old and UGLY!

Much to my sadness, I have NOT had a chance to see Eclipse.  It opened while I was at Bill's family reunion and since my return there has been my remodel.  I am patiently waiting for a day that I don't have to be here AND have someone to watch the boys.  I'm afraid it will be weeks.  I know, just about blasphemy for a die-hard Twi-mom like myself!  Sigh... Edward will still be there when I have time.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Special birthday, some demo and a Featured Stamper

Hi everyone!  Long tome no post!  I survived Bill's family reunion, or I should say I survived the SPIDERS and BUGS -LOL!  For those of you in the Pacific Northwest, we stayed at the Anderson Lodge in Ariel Washington, just outside of nowhere... uh, I mean Woodland, WA.  It is a wonderful little place with plenty of fun stuff to do both at the lodge and nearby.

ANNNNNDDDDDD, I am in day 2 of my kitchen remodel!!  I am so excited!  Yesterday the floors came up, light and wall fixtures came out, we planned out the new electrical layout, bought supplies, etc!  TODAY the little wall comes out!  Here is a pic of the wall that is going bye-bye.

Here it is before:

Here it is all striped out, (Bill did this all by himself!!), yep that is forest green paint you see.  The ENTIRE kitchen was that color when we moved it:

Here it is demo'd:

Believe it or not, I do have 2 cards to share.  Tomorrow is my sister's 40th birthday and she wanted a special card.  Being short on time and energy, I case'd a fav card of mine.  This card uses Basic Grey's Cappella papers, the amazing velvet ric-rac and 1.5" silk ribbons.  The sentiment is a combination of PTI's Birthday Basics and JustRite Special Occasions 15 pt font.  I think it turned out pretty good considering I was really finagling the stamps!

This next card is for this week's SCS featured stamper challenge, to case Cookiebaker. What an amazing gallery! I chose this super cute card to case.  I changed the images, ribbon treatment and pattern papers. I used the butterflies from Verve's new set, Blue Skies and the pattern paper is again Basic Grey, Cappella.  The sentiment is from Big Wish and the butterfly trail is from a Zva Creative rhinestone package.

Well, that's all for now.  I will post more remodel pics as things progress.  I won't have many cards to show before the end of the month.  Things are humming right along here at the Woerner house!
